Demonic-Looking Devil Lamb Sparks Fear — Accusations Of Bestiality And Witchcraft As Villagers Are Terrified (Photos)

Is a deformed, demonic-looking devil lamb the result of bestiality and witchcraft? That’s what some terrified villagers believe after a sheep gave birth to a monstrous creature that some say bears a human likeness. Photos of the “devil lamb” are spreading across social media networks and going viral. The lamb was born mid-June and while some suspected the photos were altered as part of a hoax, they have been confirmed authentic. What’s debatable is why the lamb was born with the devilish features. As some villagers are reportedly terrified that the creature was born, a scientific explanation has been given for the monstrous lamb. According to IOL South African news, the pregnant ewe was most likely infected with the Rift Valley Fever virus during the earlier stages of gestation.

Chief Director of Veterinary Services, Dr. Lubabalo Mrwebi of the Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform released a statement regarding the lamb’s birth and condition.

“We would like to confirm that the severely deformed lamb that was born by a sheep in Lady Frere this week, which at a glance resembles a human form, is not human but a deformed stillborn lamb sired by a sheep and was subsequently infected by a Rift Valley Fever at early stage of its pregnancy.”

As news of the deformed devil-lamb spread, authorities urged villagers not to panic or react in fear. Dr. Lubabalo Mrwebi tried to assure the villagers there was a scientific reason for the lamb’s appearance and that it wasn’t the result of a devil’s curse or witchcraft.

“It is not uncommon for pregnant animals to be infected by viruses early in their pregnancy. Virus infections in early stages of pregnancy may infect the foetus and lead to the development of malformations in the growing foetus. It is likely that this is what happened to the Lady Frere sheep.”

Dr. Mrwebi also reassured the people that no human sperm was involved in the creation of the monstrous looking lamb.

“We call on the local community not to panic over this deformed lamb. We can confirm that this deformed lamb is not a progeny of sheep ovum and a human sperm.”

Still, villagers are scared and reports indicate they won’t be satisfied until the deformed lamb is burned.
